In Part 3 of this 5 part series, Sanjeev Agrawal discusses why a lot of time is left on the table because despite knowing when surgeons have vacations planned, clinic conflicts, not enough volume, and other reasons why they won’t be able to use time well, their offices don’t release time and even if they do that time is not easily available to other surgeons to request far enough in advance for it to be used well.

There is a far better way - creating OpenTable for Open Time - proactively creating a bigger pool of Open Time and making it available through a mobile and web tool that creates transparency and visibility into Open Time. Surgeons and their offices can very easily look for time and get adhoc access to the OR as needed, often increasing OR efficiency by 5 - 10%.
